Wisdom from James 2

James 1:12-18    “God tempts no one”

I was glad to read in this letter, “No one, when tempted should say, “I am being tempted by God: for God cannot be tempted by evil and God tempts no one.”  Temptation is a result of our humanity, our own desires which lure us into sin and death.  Withstanding temptation therefore is an act of self-awareness and free choice which does lead to the “crown of life”.

Great is thy faithfulness, God our Creator; there is no shadow of turning with thee,

thou changest not thy compassions they fail not, as thou hast been thou forever wilt be.

(I looked for a youtube to connect for this hymn but they all made it drag!!)

Our source of life is the truth of God’s word, the foundation for all our choices.  Faithfulness leads to life.  How good to remember that when we wander, God’s faithfulness is matched by kindness, mercy and grace.
